Thomas M. Kostigen is a best-selling author, longtime journalist and former Bloomberg News editor who has traveled the world to environmental hot-spots to investigate man’s impact on the planet. He has been writing about the environment, global warming, government policies and social issues for nearly two decades, and his work can be found in numerous publications worldwide.
The author of “You Are Here: Exposing the Vital Link Between What We Do and What That Does to Our Planet” (HarperOne) and co-author of “The Green Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving The Planet One Simple Step at a Time” (Three Rivers Press), he writes the “Ethics Monitor” column for Dow Jones MarketWatch and is a contributing editor for Discover magazine.
An advocate of corporate social responsibility, Thomas works with sustainability organizations such as CERES, Coop America, Liberty Hill, the Social Investment Forum and others that aim to shift social and environmental awareness through changes in habits and policies.
Thomas is a recognized expert and speaker on social responsibility issues, including the global water supply, electronic waste, energy consumption and carbon emissions. Recent engagements include The Climate Project in Seville, Spain along with Nobel-Prize winners Al Gore and Rajendra Pachauri; The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco with environmental authors; Doane College in Nebraska with the student body; Disney with business executives; and the National Football League to which he is an adviser to its green committee.
He is also the founder of YOU ARE HERE, an eco-friendly apparel company that produces clothing with environmental messaging.
